These Watercolor Sticks are available in 51 of our most popular DANIEL SMITH Watercolors and are made with the exact same pigments, without any fillers or waxes. They are made with DANIEL SMITH paint pigment and gum arabic, shaped into a convenient stick form and dried. Highly reactive with water, similar to pan paints (1 Watercolor Stick equals 3 full pans), they easily release our beautiful DANIEL SMITH watercolor paint with a touch of a wet brush or when drawn onto wet paper. The Watercolor Sticks are like a "Pan in Your Hand" and are perfect for plein air, travel journaling, the studio, or wherever you like to paint!

Considered a "mixing pigment," Cobalt Blue is a neutral, non-staining primary blue that will subtly modify most pigments. Its semi-transparent nature can cast a giant reticulating shadow. As an inorganic pigment, it is considered non-staining (or low-tinting) and ideal for glazing methods. Its ability to create soft edges, to lift, and to mix readily makes Cobalt Blue a valuable contribution to watercolor palettes.

Cobalt Blue has excellent lightfastness, is semi-transparent, granulating, and low-staining. It conforms to ASTM D4236 and D5067 standards.
